Sur l’île de Darsheen
Performance for 1 dancer and 3 musicians | Creation 2020 | Duration 50’
For more than ten years, Compagnie 7273 choreographers Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon have been working on choreography that is composed like music. This music relates to their many travels around the world. Each trip has been an opportunity to meet musicians and these encounters have contributed to the development of their own dance style, the “Multi styles FuittFuitt”.
The island of Darsheen does not exist, or at least not yet. It is a place of interculturality where people meet to share knowledge that will be turned into a poetic object. Sur l’île de Darsheen is dedicated to all the women and men whom Laurence Yadi and Nicolas Cantillon have met all over the world and at whose side they have learned what resistance means, how exchange contributes to the development of a human being and how sharing can change lives. Musicians Sir Richard Bishop, Simphiwe Tshabalala and Maurice Louca will join Nicolas Cantillon on stage.
